Lake Tahoe area is a multi-sport paradise. Downhill and cross-country skiing are popular in winter. The warmer weather brings out water skiers, backpackers and mountain bikers.
The Flume Trail, which is accessed by the Tahoe Rim Trail in Nevada, is a classic ride -- high elevation riding, incredible views of Lake Tahoe, and enough precipitous drop-offs to keep you quite alert.
Although the Flume does indeed follow the path of an old aqueduct, junctions with adjoining trails can be confusing.
Download this GPS map to stay oriented from the TRT trailhead near Mount Rose/Tahoe Meadows, through the Flume Trail, and on back down to Spooner Lakes.

Adventure Travel Tip:Take some time to get acclimated. This section of trail tops out at around 8,800' and it is possible that you will feel the effects of altitude if you don't spend at least a few hours at lake level before being shuttled up to the rim.
