Climbing Mount Chiquita ColoradoRocky Mountain National Park straddles the Continental Divide, just west of Estes Park, Colorado. Within the park, 60 peaks top-out above 12,000 feet, making this a playground for hikers and climbers of all abilities.

Mount Chiquita is considered a strenuous hike as it has a rise of 858 feet per mile. The portal is at 10,817 feet and the summit is at 13,072 feet. The hike to the saddle waypoint is maintained and easy to follow, the trail from the saddle to the summit of Chiquita is difficult to find and follow, almost a scramble at times. If you want to bag another peak prior to Chiquita follow the path from the saddle up to Mount Chapin 12,379.

For those of you who'd rather drive, Trail Ridge Road climes to 12,183 feet - the highest continuous paved road in the United States.
