Hiking the Bartram Trail in North Carolina and GeorgiaExperience wilderness little changed from the time William Bartram documented southern Appalachia.

Good for solitude. The trail is long, portions are seldom used, and it can become completely obscured by leaves in the Fall. Download this GPS data file to stay on track towards peaceful creekside water-stops and quiet mountaintop vistas.

The Bartram Trail is one of the Southeast's long trails. The Bartram Trail also connects with other significant trails in the region. By using the Bartram Trail to connect the Foothills Trail to the Appalachian Trail, you can follow a blazed path from Table Rock, South Carolina to the state of Maine!

Related GPS Maps

If you'd like to have a taste of hiking the Bartram Trail (BT) over five nights, the Appalachian Trail (AT) in North Carolina is coincident with the BT at two places, making a nice 50 mile loop. Along this loop, where the AT crosses the Nantahala River, the town of Wesser, North Carolina is an epicenter of recreational activity, including whitewater rafting and mountain biking. Here are two related maps that cover this area:
