unique area offers ample opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing,
whether you hike along the marsh, paddle along the spoil banks, or push
upriver under power. Fishermen will appreciate the abundance of large
mouth bass and bluegill found in the bays. Use this GPS Map to help
you navigate among scenery that looks the same at every turn.
This area is home to the endangered Alabama Redbelly Turtle and a variety of aquatic plants. Also keep you eye out for Alligator - some of the region's largest have been reported in this area.
Pictured: A photo op that couldn't be passed up - the gator is dead but still warm, after having been (unintentionally) caught in an encounter net set by the local university for the purpose of studying turtle migration in the the bayou. I was "assisting" the good professor who shows up in the picture at lower right.
